Minergie-certified buildings around the world are characterised by the following properties:
What makes a Minergie building?

Stable and comfortable indoor temperatures significantly reducing the use of active systems for either cooling or heating. Heating costs can be cut by two to three times.

Healthy indoor air quality. Sufficient fresh air supply at all times. Fine particulate matter and other forms of air pollution are filtered out before air enters the home.

Energy efficiency and self-generation of electricity (or domestic hot water) by using solar energy.

Minimal carbon footprint. Energy efficiency combined with renewable energy for heating and cooling ensures very low CO2 emissions. This is also enhanced through the conscious use of local, renewable and recycled materials.

High quality. Thanks to targeted quality controls in the planning and construction phase, Minergie buildings are marked by their high quality and therefore have an above-average market value.
Regionally- or Country-Adapted Standards
The socio-economic context, architecture and climate vary considerably from one country to another. This is why we developed country-specific standards. These standards can cover areas in addition to the basic properties above. In Latin America, for example, the efficient use of water or the use of healthy materials are additionally included in the standard.
If a country-specific standard is available, it must be applied.

No local Minergie Standard available?
No problem – buildings all over the world can be certified under the Minergie standard. If no local standard is available, a suitable standard is selected by the certification body. The choice of standard depends on the climate zone and the development of the country.
